      Numerous undesirable traits, genetic defects and health problems inherent in many AKC dog breeds are not common in the wolf or canines with more recent wolf ancestry.

We wish to maintain the integrity of our animals, therefore, registry by type/ class and USAWA standards will be strictly adhered to. Breeders/ sellers and buyers must realize that all puppies produced are not breeding quality and not all puppy buyers should qualify as breeders. Ideal temperament, perfect health and accurately documented lineage's are critical.

All dogs are taxonomically classified as Canis lupus familiaris as of 1993. USAWA will register all those canines which have retained positive wolf characteristics and traits. All canines have wolf in their ancestry and are from a multitude of generations. Some are documented and verifiable, some are not. When registered, their status will be coded and indicated on their registration certificate as Type/ Class.' It is the responsibility of the owner to verify the lineage of their animals, keep accurate records and supply this information to the USAWA registry. Breeders must submit complete lineage of all breeding animals to USAWA registry before any resulting litters can be registered. USAWA will register the following type class canines:
