Welcome to my Ham Radio page. Here you will find a little bit of philosophy,
some really good content, and a lot of my opinion. There are some great articles on
how to enjoy the hobby as well as tons of links that open in their own browser window for
you to explore without losing your place here.
My Interests are primarily VHF/UHF, Foxhunting, Homebrew, and 20m/40m Phone and CW.
I also love to volunteer for charity events, emergencies, and any kind of public
service that helps people, our community, and the image of HAM radio. Field day is
also a particular favorite. I'm not sure if it is the hobby or the three day
picnic, but it is all part of what I call "Amateur Radio". I have no
problem being called "amateurish", in fact I've made a career of it.
So enjoy the page and feel free to fill out the guestbook and/or send me email with
your suggestions and comments. Find all the little secrets like clicking on the
radio above after the music stops. I want this page to be a resource for everyone
who doesn't have their own WEB page. Well, everyone except Gary KN4AQ. Nobody
tell him we are all over here, it will drive him nuts wondering what we are up to.
OPINION
ALERT: If you don't have at least version
4 of Internet Explorer or Netscape, what are you waiting for? Go right now to my home page
and click on one of the buttons at the bottom to link to a download site. This site will
not do half what it is designed to do without one of these browsers.

An incredible sunlight clock with HAM extensions.
Shows sunrise/sunset, twilight zone, moon ephemeris, time throughout the word, 100's of
maps, space view, and HAM info such as call-sign lookup, great circle display,
illumination of D and F layers of the ionosphere, and map to any point, including distance
and inclination to any HAM in your call sign or zip code database. A must have
software replacement for the $3000 wall-sized GeoChron clocks.
Tracks space shuttle missions in real time with multiple
maps and views. Very cool and fun to use. Also allows tracking of multiple
satellites which you can view with the naked eye.
The top sound processor, waveform viewer/editor.
Use it like an audio spectrum analyzer. Great for doing voice print analysis,
viewing and enhancing recorded signals, and very cool to view the data sent in bursts such
as CW embedded in meteor scatter transmissions.
One of the best atomic clock synchronizers around.
Has alarms, geochron sunlight display, time display for any city, alarms and more all in a
very tight interface. Must have for using satellite programs or geoclock.
Text Output Paper Saver - Windows utility that takes
documents and allows them to be printed in multiple formats to handle 2,4,6, 8 or even
more pages on a single piece of paper. Great for printing all your text files and
documentation.
4-Print
Dos version of a similar paper saver to tops. Used
if for years before finding TOPS, which adds the ability to handle windows fonts.
However compare as this program has some nice features.
Just a very cool visual IP tracker that lets you trace
the route from you to any person's IP (internet server address). Looks like
something out of "Sneakers", "The Net", or any other multitude of spy
movies where they try to trace a phone call or computer connection.
The standard (and soon to be AOL's) buddy list/chat/file
transfer and more program. A must have if you are "connected". Lists
you to the word (if you desire) and tracks all your online friends when they are online.
Allows direct IP connections for chatting and sending files.
One of the best text editor's (and replacement for
Wordpad and Notepad) on the planet. Very slick interface, handles large files, and
allows multiple documents to be open and accessible via tabs. "PostcardWare" -
just send him a "QSL" card to register for FREE.
The premier music/wav player. Cool plugins like
3-way vibrating speakers and colored visual displays and graphs. User customized
templates for stereo faceplates are very cool too allowing you to have a photorealistic or
stylized stereo amplifier.
Commercial Antenna site for Max-Gain Systems, but they
have articles, parts, and probably the biggest and best source for web links related to
ham radio.
Very cool DX site with 5 minute updates of actual
propagation and cluster DX info. You can search any band and find out who is on it
and what is being said!
One of the new "WEB Controlled Radio" sites.
That's right, listen and actually operate a Yaesu FT-747GX from a WEB page!
You gotta see this if you haven't already.
Another cool java and RealAudio enabled site that allows
you to control a Yaesu FT747 on a dipole and an ICOM PCR-1000 on a discone. From
Stockholm, Sweden
A must hear at least once example of how bad HAM Radio
can get. This is a live broadcast, 24/7 of a 2M repeater located in Southern
California. It is never quiet and you would swear you are listening to CB hosted by
Howard Stern.
WM7D, Mark Downing's call lookup and EMAIL DATABASE!
This is the call lookup site to use. Be sure to add your email to the
database so people can find you.
