Welcome to my Archery Page!!

I have been hunting for over 17 years now, but I got started into bowhunting four years ago and I am now totally hooked. I pretty much use a bow for anything I can now to include fishing.

My first bow was just one I bought used at a gun store of all places.  It was an older XI model and I can't even remember which model anymore. It had a 30 inch draw which is way too long for me but I learned to make it work.   I shot Easton 2216 gamegetter arrows, and NAP Spitfire broadheads.  My first year out after alot of work I took a small spike.

After alot more research and alot more learning on my part I finally decided on a new bow.  A Jennings Buckmaster, 28 inch draw at 60 lbs.  I switched to Easton XX78 2314 arrows and NAP Shockwave broadheads.  That was fall of 99 and I had a new son that was two weeks old so the first legal deer was the target and I ended up taking a nice doe to fill the freezer with that combination.

I'll make one suggestion to anyone starting out in archery, go to the site www.bowsite.com, it's about the most informative site on the net with alot of good folks to help you out.    For the technical information you may need to go to www.bowjackson.com, for KE calculations, trajectory, arrow weight or whatever else you may need.

Well after last years season I decided I wanted more power, again back to the research and learning, after a long trial period of shooting different bows to include Mathews, Parker, PSE, High Country Archery, and many others I decided on this.   HCA 4Runner, 28 inch draw at 70 lbs.  Now I can really zing arrows, aluminums at 250 fps and Goldtip carbons at 275 fps, and that's just with the bow set at 68lbs draw.   Ended up going with the Goldtips for this season (2000) and they performed well.

Well February 2001 and I ended up in the bowshop with some money to spend and this is what happened.  A new Mathews Q2, 28 inch draw, 70 lbs pull, NAP Shockblocker stabilizer, HCA Sight, NAP QT 1000 rest, Limb Savers, Peep sight, and a bow sling. I'll keep the 4 Runner for shooting mech heads and bowfishing, and I'll use this one for fixed head shooting.  Either way now I've got a backup bow now, which is what I wanted.

Here's a few more pictures of my shooting, and check on Devin's page too as he's starting to really like archery now.

Robinhood from 15 yds.

Robinhood from 25 yds out.

This is what's called a "Robinhood" when you are shooting a group of arrows and you end up sticking one right into the back of one of the other arrows you previsously shot.  The farther away you are the harder it is to do this. The picture on the left is from 15 yards out, and the one on the right is from 25.

Aluminums and Carbons grouping to the same point of impact. Try that one!!! LOL

This can get expensive though.... LOL

Well, July 2000 and I thought I was safe at 35yds, I guess not.  Just robinhooded another carbon yesterday at 20yds, now this one today at 35, that's basically $18 down the drain.  Guess the bow is shooting good though.
