Welcome to Bowfishing !!!!!!

Bow and regular Carp

Now if you've never tried this please don't, hehe as I don't want to have any competition when I'm out there. I just started bowfishing about 2 weeks ago and have learned fast.  Bowfishing is a blast friends.

It basically combines bowhunting with fishing and you're off.  The typical setup for most is a recurve bow and instinctive shooting, allthough I choose to go with my deer bow, it's an individual choice.

You start off with your bow and arrow.  The arrow has to be specially rigged for this endeavor however, and it's a different type than the normal hunting arrow.  You use a fiberglass arrow for bowfishing which is much heavier than typical hunting arrows.  The arrow then has to have holes drilled into it to attach the string.  There are many ways to do this but the best is to "cable" the arrow.  If you are really interested and want more information let me know by email.  Next you attach the string to the arrow, now we are not talking normal fishing line here, this is anywhere from 200 to 400 lb test line. With the other end attached to a reel of some sort you're all set, and here's what can happen!!!!!

My big grass carp, 45lbs

Now on the left is my biggest to date, 44 inches long and 45 lbs.  On the right is a 46 incher and with no scale a guessed estimate weight of about 35 to 40 lbs.

Another nice grassie, 46 inches

Chad and his 1st Grassie

On the left here is one of my bowfishing buddies with his first grass carp.  On the right is Devin who thinks he can pick it up later.

Devin thinks he can pic one up!!!

Nite bowfishing now...

Now that's a Headshot!!!!

Well it's late July now and we're still finding them but as you can see more so at night, I'm on the left with one that's about 42 inches, and that's Chad again on the right with what we call a "Head Shot".  Now try to guess which one of these fish jumped out of the water like a trout?  The one on the right, go figure.

Well if you have any qestions email me and I'd be glad to help you out.  It really is a blast.
