Taxidermy Page

Well I'm not trophy hunter in the that I only hunt for trophy animals, but there are several that for one reason or another meant something more to me, and therefore I wanted to preserve their memory.

So anyway, here's some pictures of the taxidermy work that I have in my home.

Largemouth Bass 8 lbs.

This is a nice bass, 8 lbs that my father caught on of all days his anniversary, hehe, I mean that's what you're supposed to do on your anniversary right, go fishing?  As time when on I ended up with the mount.

Late Season Rooster

One late December day in 97 I decided to go pheasant hunting, regardless of the weather, although the wind was blowing at 30 mph and the windchills were in the area of 40 below I was goin huntin.  Call me dedicated I guess.  Well after 3.5 hours of nothing, this rooster and another finally came up from under my feet during a beautiful snow fall.  They both came up cackling hard and it's a flush I'll never forget.  I nocked both birds down but was only able to recover this one.

Fall 2000 Rack

Well, can you tell that I did this one myself?  Ok so I'm no taxidermist.  After an incredible Fall 2000, where I was fortunate to see several Pope & Young bucks, one of which in the 160 class that I saw 7 times, I finally got worn out and then this fellow strolled by. Nov 3rd, 2000 after seeing over 18 deer in 1 hour, I decided I was ready to be done and harvested this nice little 9 point.

Turkey Full Strut

Turkey Full Strut

Well this nice Tom was from my Spring 2000 hunt.  My first attempt at Spring turkey hunting and it turned out to be alot more work than I ever though it would be.  I had some friends to help me out, but it just seemed like the birds weren't co-operating for anybody in the area very well. They just didn't want to respond to calling much.  This bird taught me alot, and I actually got him completely on my own on public land.  A nice bird for my first weighing in at 22lbs, 10.5 inch beard, and 1 1/8 inch spurs.  It took 13 days of turkey hunting, and 3 days of hunting him specifically to get him in.  Then after all that it took driving down in a Blizzard 41 miles to the taxidermist to pick him up, but needless to say nothing was gonna keep me from going to get him.
