36th Infantry Regiment

(3 years)

Illinois

Fox River Regiment

The 36th Infantry was one of the many regiments Illinois placed in the field.  It was comprised of men from towns and counties making up what is known as the Fox River Valley, hence the name. It is also listed as one of Fox's 300 Hundred Fighting Regiments. One unusual note about the 36th is that they originally mustered with two companies of cavalry (A & B). Though they were quickly seperated.

But after we study the battles, leaders, and units we must always endeavor to remember the real face of war.

Let us not forget the ultimate sacrifice of war.
