2:00 pm--4:30 pm

Septembers meeting was so exciting with several new kids joining the group.  This month we will be meeting at the NDOW office on Vegas Drive.  If you have your own fly fishing rod, please bring it, because we will be going outside this month to work on our casting skills prior to going fishing next month at Floyd Lamb State Park.  Ivy will be providing rods for those who do not have their own.  There is a large grassy area in back of the NDOW complex where we can lay out some line and really work on getting those casting skills down.  During the September meeting we had on the agenda to learn more about fishing safety, and fish hook removal in particular, we will finish this up during our October meeting.
Please remember to let Ivy know if you have been fishing and send in those pictures of you and your fish.

Benches and Ramps Installed at Kirch

Tuesday  morning,  September 13,  turned out to be  a beautiful sunny day, as members of the Las Vegas Fly Fishing Club, Trout Unlimited, and WHIN (Wildlife and Habitat for Nevada) showed up at the Wayne E. Kirch Wildlife Management Area to install benches and lay gravel for new float tube launch ramps.  Three of the areas reservoirs received the benches and ramps.  Haymeadow, Cold Springs, and Adams-McGill are all popular float tubing waters, but for years anglers have had problems negotiating the slippery boat launch ramps to get into the water.  The new gravel ramps will make this job a lot easier and safer.  The benches will also provide a place to sit for putting waders, boots and fins on and off.
The benches and ramps were installed in memory of several very special people to these organizations; JR Hanson, Jim Fay, Denny and Wauna Selleck .  All were members of the groups and advocates for conservation and Nevada's wildlife, they will be greatly missed, but
always remembered.
