We have a new Web Site!!!
The domain name "www.foprangeinc.com" is now up and running. I am redoing this web site and will eventually move it to the new server. It should easier to find. After the Nov. 6th and 7th 3-Gun State Championship, I'll work to get it finished. Special thanks to Jonathan Sanders for his help in getting our new site.
July brings big changes to the F.O.P.Range!!
Jon Grigsby is now the sole owner of the range. Tony has decided to sell his half of the business to allow him more time for his family and career in law enforcement. I have made a few changes in the way the range operates. First, the range is now accepting Visa, Mastercard, and Discover credit cards for all your purchases at the range. You can now "finance" your membership dues and renewals. Second, ammo prices are now very competitive with those anywhere in the Birmingham area. You will want to purchase all your target shooting ammo here. Third, I have started a "Single Membership Plan" for those who want to join the range but would not benefit from a "Family Membership Plan". The "Simgle" rate is only $100 a year and has a $5 per use range fee. Call the range for more info.
The SHOOTOUT '98 Law Enforcement Only Tactical Match was a huge success. Over $1400 was raised by FOP Lodge 58, F.O.P.Range Inc., Dixie Shooters and the 37 competitors who shot the match, for Randall Smith and his family. Look here for info and match pictures....
The 1998 Dixie Shooters Club Championship was held Oct. 4, 1998. Congradulations to Tim Herring, Open Division Champion and J.L. Hardy, the Limited Division Champion. We all had a great time. Complete match results are available here. If I can get my hands on some match pictures, you will also see them here.
December Dixie Shooter's Club News
The latest Dixie Shooter Club Newsletter is here. We are wanting to make some changes in our match schedule next year, holding one club handgun IPSC match per month instead of two. This will allow our club members to attend and support some of the other IPSC clubs in our area. Tim Herring, the current Dixie Shooters president, has cancelled the club IPSC handgun matches until February 1999. For those of you who don't mind cold fingers, John Blue and I are still holding our scheduled Steel Plate matches on the second sunday of each month as well as a 3-Gun IPSC match on the forth Sunday of each month. We are exploring the possibilities of a shotgun only or rifle only IPSC matches. A new range schedule for 1999 will be available soon.

primary range We put 15 concrete bench rest tables on this range for the 22 rimfire Precision Matches.
shotgun claybird range Just got our new thrower installed! It works great.
falling steel plate range #1 Becoming the most popular range we have. Everybody loves to knock down steel plates.
falling steel plate range #2 The new falling steel plate rack from MGM is here! This one has steel bowling pins on it.
rifle range Just put a new layer of gravel on this range to get it ready for 1998. Looks much better.
speed shoot range Only used during matches. This was planned as (and still may become) an Air Gun Range.

A local IDPA club , the "Tactical Training Group", has been formed which will organise and hold sanctioned IDPA events. Check the link for more details. NOTICE!!! Everyone who participates in these matches has had a really good time. Your help is needed to prevent burning out the few who are working hard to get it started.

Steel Plate Handgun Match Info We are bringing back the Steel Plate shoots! Steel is not dead, its just been snoozing for a while. Great way for shooters to become involved in competition. Next Match is Nov. 8, at 12:00 noon. We have changed the format for this match to that of the "Steel Challenge" with several steel plate courses set up around the range. Sub-Gun Match A local NFA club holds several of these matches during the year. See the 1998 schedule for dates. Fun to watch, even more fun to shoot. Several sub-gun match pictures. The 1998 NFA Sub-Gun Nationals were held here. The Match was a lot of fun for everyone involved. It will return here next year. Tony Gooch is organizing monthly matches that will be held on the first Saturday of each month starting January 1999. The next NFA Sub-gun Match to be held this year is on November 14, 1998.
