Crochet Placemat trim
First I straight stitched on the outer edge around cotton placemat with my sewing machine.(any discount store placemat)
Then using a small crochet hook (size 8 hook) Crochet directly in the straight stitch made by inserting hook under stitches and pull doily thread through. (similar to crocheting in sc of previous row)
Rnd 1: Sl st *sc, ch 1 (rep from * around)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc, *ch 3, skip next ch-1 space, sc, ch 5, skip next 2 ch-1 spaces, sc (rep from * around)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in sp, *7 dc in next space, sc in sp (Rep from * around)
Rnd 4: Ch 5, *(dc in next dc, ch 1) 7 times, dc in next sc (rep from * around)
Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in same space, *(ch 3, sc in ch-1 space) 5 times, sc in middle dc (rep from * around) Finish off

Towel Topper
A fast and easy pattern for your kitchen
Towel Toppers
Use C hook to make 46 holes in top of towel
(I first cut my kitchen hand towels in half and make 2)
Rnd 1: sl st, ch 1, sc in the 46 holes across, turn
Rnd 2: Use G hook, dc into each sc, ch 3, turn.
Rnd 3: Dc into every other dc across, ch 3, turn.
Rep Row 3 until you have 8 dc left, then dc in each dc for 9 rows. Finish off.
