Welcome to the Frenchboro Museum. Our museum is in the town of Frenchboro, Long Island, Maine which is located 8 miles from Mount Desert Island in Blue Hill Bay.

The Frenchboro Historical Society was founded in 1979 by sisters Vivian and Lillian (Davis) Lunt.   It is dedicated to preserving the history of Frenchboro, Long Island, Maine.   The museum is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.  Usual operating hours during the summer season are noon to 5 p.m.

Our museum has artifacts from our island heritage.

We also have a gift shop where you can purchase island-made crafts.

You can also purchase the  history of Frenchboro, Hauling By Hand, by Dean Lawrence Lunt at the museum.

At the museum you can pick up a map showing all the miles of wilderness trails you can hike during your visit.

You can support the museum by becoming a member.  Membership includes free Newsletters.

The Frenchboro Library is also part of the museum building and is worth a visit.
