Now some of you guys might be wondering to yourself why I don't put up a lot of the rudiments that I 've recieved. There is a simple reason for this: It was probably some sort of derivation of a more common three note pattern ,such as a flam drag or singled-drag, plugged into the above form (4-2-1: In other words, do something 4 times, then twice, then once).
For example, someone sent me a three note pattern: accent on 1, flam on 2, and drag on 3. If you check it out, this is the exact same thing as accenting the third note of a flam drag (bar 3 of 4-2-1).
That's the most common type of substitution, but you can also plug in patterns in groupings other than 3. A favorite of mine is to plug in patta-fla-fla's (4 note grouping) in the 4-2-1 pattern. This achieves a continuing 3 over 4 feel.
If you have a contribution, in very clear terms, (including heights, rhythm, sticking, and a name) submit it here. I will send it back to you in image format to confirm before it's posted. Also, full credit, a "mailto" link and a link to your website (if applicable) will be added upon its publication.
Just to clarify, I give credit to who sends it in, NOT who supposedly wrote it. I think everyone would agree that it would be impossible to track down that kind of information let alone verify whether it was true.
One last thing: Don't give me a 15 note long pattern w/ a name like "double-inverted-FUBAR-diddle w/ cheese on a roll" and expect me to put it up. Otherwise, have fun!
