    History of Aiken County

      Prior to 1871, Aiken County was made up of Edgefield County which was formed from a part of District 96 in 1785, and Orangeburg, Barnwell, and Lexington Counties which were formed from the Original Orangeburg District, Barnwell in 1798, and Lexington in 1804.

    They have publications for sale. Membership is $11.00 per year which includes a quarterly newsletter. The society supports the genealogy section in the Aiken Public Library. The society meets in the Aiken Public Library, the second Sunday afternoon of each month.
