Gilbert entered service in company H, Twelfth Infantry, at its
organization, as a Captain, on October 14, 1861, at Lawton, for 3
years, at age 41. Commissioned to date Oct. 10, 1861.
Mustered Jan. 8, 1862. Wounded in action at Shiloh, Tenn., April
6, 1862. Resigned from the service Oct. 8, 1862.
Buried at Lawton, Mich.
