Publication Targets

The 2006 Target, set in September 2005, is 16 publications.   See below for Plan.  For latest progress, see "TC67 Hit List.xls" at ISOTC website (click on the year of interest).

In order to develop a performance culture TC67 resolved in September 1998 to set targets for the numbers of documents to be published in 1999 and 2000.   At that time management planning had lapsed and the TC67 Database was inaccurate.  The targets set (20 in 1999 and 30 in 2000) were approximately the numbers shown by the TC67 Database as having been planned but it was not known which documents would actually contribute.  After the new "2-Year Plan from January 2000" was completed, a the prospect of only 20 in 2000 was seen as realistic (the new plan indicated 27).

The outcome was 11 documents in 1999, 22 documents in 2000.  The number of documents published in 2000 equalled the total number published in the preceding five years, see chart.  Setting public targets has contributed to a new way of working where the focus is on delivery of published documents.

Management Plan and Performance

TC67 has resolved to maintain a Management Plan, to be updated in October each year to set the plan for the following calendar year.

The latest plan (N731 latest revision) runs from October of the previous year.  An EXCEL spreadsheet may be accessed at API's TC67 website  (click here for access to plan - then scroll down to N731).  The first such plan (N731) was in 2000.  Before 2000, planning was based on the TC67 Database.

The animation below shows the planning changes for each year from 1994 to 2004.   The number of documents actually published in that and previous years is shown to the left of the green line, and the forward plan for each year is shown to the right.  See how the "plan" bunches up ahead of the green line!  See how the tallest bar gets shorter every year from 1995!  See the difference after 2000!
