To
Echo Lodge is a co-operative community of artists creating handcrafted toys and gifts honoring nature, and celebrating children and families. This website will introduce you to our work, but the items shown are not for sale through the site at this time. Our work may be purchased at Under the Sycamore Tree, the store at the Susquehanna Waldorf School, Marietta, Pennsylvania ( http://www.susquehanna.org). All art work you see here is copyright 2002--2006 by Ana-Liisa Aubry unless otherwise noted, and cannot be reproduced, copied, or reprinted without written permission of the artist.
This website is under construction, and might someday soon support special orders for the items you see here. Until then, please email us for special orders. Please understand that much of what we offer is not represented here, so see us at the Fairie Festival!
Echo Lodge was founded by Nanette Blank and Ana-Liisa Aubry in 2000, with a vision of producing high quality toys and gifts using the best natural components & the Waldorf toymaking tradition: dolls, marionettes, stuffed animals, and dress-up clothes. Toymaking is an important element of Waldorf education, in which toys are handcrafted of natural materials to be pleasing to the eye, hand, and spirit.
Since then, our community has expanded to embrace additional diverse folk handicrafts such as Ukrainian Batiked Eggs, Scandinavian feltmaking, new trends in needlefelted creatures and playscapes, knitted & crocheted animals & baby accessories, decoupaged gifts using recycled vintage children's books, glass and stone jewelry, handbags made of recycled bluejeans, high quality Tie-dyed wearable art, and T-shirts stencilled with Native American Totem Animals. At the heart of our work is still the love of nature and imagination that is expressed by our dolls, gnomes, dragons, and silk marionettes. There are now 9 artisan-members of our co-op.
We have been honored to be able to share our work with you the past few years at the May Day Fairie Festival ( http://www.fairiefestival.net ) at Spoutwood Farm, in Glen Rock, PA, the first weekend of May, and are excited to be able to do so again in 2006. In addition to the crafts shown on this site, we always bring along a large assortment of handcrafted items from Under the Sycamore Tree, the school store at the Susquehanna Waldorf School (http://www.susquehanna.org ). Expect to find lovely hand-dyed silks (for dress-up play, imagination play, or for us grownups to wear or beautify our homes!), wool-roving butterfly mobiles, handcrafted walking sticks, baby gifts, fairy picturebooks used in Waldorf Early Childhood Education, and the hard to find natural materials we use to craft Waldorf toys. We will also have some items from new members of our co-op, including kid-friendly glass handblown glass beads and natural stone jewelry for the more sophisticated taste.
A very special addition to our co-op this year is Rainbow Faerie Tie-Dye and Batiks, whom many of you know from previous Fairie Festivals, complete with the Make-Your-Own Tie-Dye table. This is one you won't want to miss!
