NEWS: OPEN DESIRE has been revised as of 3/18/08.
The
new Linux version is faster and has a new, extra-convenient user interface.
The
new Windows version installs anywhere (even on a flash stick) without
any need to use an install program –simply extract the files from the
installation .zip file. Desire no
longer needs the (expletive deleted) Windows registry!

OPEN DESIRE
Open-source Software for Interactive Simulation of Dynamic Systems
Much
more than a differential-equation solver, DESIRE models difference equations,
neural networks, and fuzzy logic
Vectorizing
compilation: a single simulation exercises thousands of replicated models, as
in Monte Carlo simulation
TRULY INTERACTIVE
MODELING: screen-edited programs compile and execute immediately - CLICK
HERE TO SEE A DESIRE SIMULATION DISPLAY
1. OPEN DESIRE for
Linux and Unix including Cygwin (Unix under Microsoft Windows), up to 40,000
differential equations in scalar or vector form
2.
OPEN
DESIRE for Microsoft Windows, up to 20,000 differential equations in scalar or
vector form
The Linux version has a new,
improved user interface and solves differential equations about 30 per
cent faster. Version 13.0 for Windows is also updated but not faster than
the older version.
DESIRE (Direct Executing SImulation in REal Time) is a
user-friendly environment for fast and convenient interactive modeling and
simulation, proved by hundreds of users in
industry and education since 1986. Extra-fast runtime compilation lets your
window-edited programs execute without distracting translation delays. This
permits truly interactive modeling and immediate comparisons of live
models on multiple editor screens.
DESIRE's powerful vectorizing compiler
permits easy model replication for fast parameter-influence and Monte
Carlo studies. The program combines experiment-protocol scripts for
controlling multirun simulation studies with an industrial-strength
differential-equation solver (to 40,000 differential equations, 14 integration
rules). DESIRE uses a natural mathematical notation and double-precision
floating-point arithmetic.
DESIRE/2000 for Windows, also still available, uses proprietary
X86-optimized assembly language for extra computing speed. Under Linux, OPEN
DESIRE for 64-bit PCs is now almostas fast - without using assembly language.

A contribution to the Open-source community,
OPEN DESIRE is free and can be redistributed under the GNU General
Public License. We have no FTP site but will email binary code, examples, and
manual (request from gatmkorn@aol.com). We can also burn you a CD with Linux,
Cygwin, and Windows programs, over 150 examples, source code, and reference
manual for $15 ($25 outside US and Canada) for mailing and media.
