Ms Kirkpatrick:
Thank you for your prompt response to my plea for information on the old
Central State Hospital cemeteries; however, I would appreciate it if you
could clarify whose office you are with, or if "Constituent Services" is
a part of Metro Government (?),
in order that I might properly identify the source of this information for
my readers and for the visitors to my web page about this matter.
Thank you for your time and consideraion.

The property containing the 1600 graves on the old Central State Hospital site will remain under State control. There are no plans to disrupt this cemetery site.

Subject: endangered cemeteries on Central State Hospital site
Dear Mayor:
I am deeply concerned with the endangerment of the cemeteries on the old
Central State Hospital site which contains the grave of one of my
relatives.
Please adivse the status of the cemetery dispostion which will be effective
with the proposed transfer of property rights to Dell Computer Corporation
I understand there are two cemeteries on the property which contain many
graves, over about four (4) acres of land now owned by either the State or
Metro.
You can read more on these cemeteries and the concerns voiced by someone
who is personally affected on my Genealogy and Tennessee web page on

Cemeteries

Nancy,
Neither the Tenn Governor's office nor the Nashville (TN) Metro Mayor's office will say what the future of these cemeteries will be. Nor has Dell Corporation contacted me about it.
Some of us know about the cemeteries, most probably do not.
The Middle Tenn State Mental Hospital moved from a site on Murfreesboro Rd, Nashville, TN to a new site at Donelson ( Nashville suburb) in 1995 after about 150 years. The old site has two cemeteries where patients were buried (about 1600 & 137). Most markers have been destroyed over the years. The cemeteries occupy probably no more than four (4) acres.
The state is transferring the approximately 300 acres to Metro Nashville which plans to transfer it to Dell Corporation for computer factory, offices, and support businesses.
Please write, phone, and e mail the two offices and the news media asking that the cemeteries be preserved and cared for. To remain in state ownership would be best, probably.
Also, apparent mismanagement in years past earns the right to have a large monument erected in memory of the hundreds of forgotten people.
For our online group of Lynch descendants, Martha Everlene (Lynch) Frogge (Frogue) is buried there (1927) and probably a son, David Frogue (1913?).
Metro City Council is meeting Tuesday evening, July 20.
Nashvillians can contact their Metro council members and candidates
for mayor.
