Providence Christian Church is a congregation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Located in historic Lexington, KY, the congregation is over 180 years old.

On Sundays, the morning begins with Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. There are two classes for adults and six classes for children and youth. Worship begins at 10:45 a.m. in a relaxed atmosphere. A wide variety of music is used in the service, from Bach to Bluegrass. Contemporary music is valued and so are the classic organ hymns.

A Casual/Contemporary Worship Service is featured on Sunday evenings at 7:00 p.m.  This service uses contemporary praise choruses, Bible Study and upbeat music to appeal to Gen X'ers.  Child care is available.

During worship a Nursery is provided for children to age 2. Toddler Worship is provided for children ages 3 to 5. Junior Worship is offered to children from 5 years to 11 years.

There is and Adult Bible Study which meets at 9:00 a.m. on Fridays and engages itself with an in-depth study of the Song of Songs.

Our ChristianYouth Fellowship is for teens from 9th to 12th grades and it meets on Sundays at 5:00 p.m. The Chi Rho Fellowship is for middle school teens and meets at 5:00 p.m. on Sundays also.

Wednesday evenings bring Choir rehearsal at 6:30 p.m. The Choir is an exciting place to serve God.   There is also a Chimes Choir which rehearses at 7:45 p.m.

Also on Wednesdays we hold Christian Children's Fellowship at 6:30 p.m. The children are studying "Pathways to Discovery," which takes them through the Bible.  Children are very active in the life of the congregation.

The congregation has completed a Strategic Planning process in order to expand its ministry into the next millenium. This important process brings intentionality to our ministries and unifies the congregation with a Mission Statement.  The congregation has begun a Two Phase building project.  Phase I to be completed in 2000 is to renovate the current facility.  Phase II, which will follow on the heels of Phase I is the construction of an education/recreational/fellowship space to adjoin our current facility.

Providence is very active in Outreach in the Fayette County/Jessamine County community.  Our members enjoy expressing their faith through service to others.  Currently the congregation is involved with God's Pantry, Habitat for Humanity, Community Action Council, the Salvation Army, Hope Center, Step By Step, Christian Health Center, R.O.S.M., and the Ronald McDonald House.
