Greek Arms and Armour


The following items feature some Greek equipment which has been thoroughly researched for authenticity.

Bronze Corinthian Helmet

Greek Corinthian Helmet:
This helmet is made completely from one piece of 18 gauge bronze using the ancient technique of raising. Raising is a time consuming process which involves hammering a large disk of metal over a stake, gradually forming the helmet after many passes with the hammer over the surface of the metal. 2 pictures showing part of this process can be seen below.

This helmet is made almost completely from one piece of 18 gauge bronze using the ancient technique of raising. In this example the lower 2 inches of the cheekpieces of the helmet are brazed on. Raising is a time consuming process which involves hammering a large disk of metal over a stake, gradually forming the helmet after many passes with the hammer over the surface of the metal. 2 pictures showing part of this process can be seen below.

Here the helmet is raised about half-way.

Here the helmet is raised about three quarters of the way.
