The Sword Alfric

Here is a sword forged for an Ancient Heroic Age. With Alfric in hand, towering above the helms of orc-folk, a Hero could cleave a path to Legend. Alfric is born of a combination of careful Hand-Work and the heat of the Forge-Fire. Much forging goes into the long blade, both for the bevels and fuller grooves. For the Blade, High Carbon Spring Spring Steel (1095) is heated in our coal forge and hammered into shape upon our anvils. The blade is then heat-treated for great strength. The handguard and pommel are forged of mild steel. The handguard is not just slot punched, but forged of two halves, and welded together in a sandwhich fashion to provide for a very solid fit onto the blade. Likewise, the base of the pommel is sandwhich-mounted. The lobations of the pommel are welded and rivetted into place sturdily. The grip is of tough, carved hickory, bound with brass bands for extra strength. Alfric, as shown, is adorned with 20 nordic-style runes carved upon one side of the blade, and many runes upon the handguard, pommel, and grip-bands. There is also mystical symbols of the sun-moon-and-stars carved into the wide base area of the blade. The blade carvings are accented with bronze dust suspended in a laquer. The ends of handguard are adorned with synthetic rubies set with sterling silver settings (a total of 4). Alfric is a magnificent creation of the Smiths at the Lonely Mountain Forge, a true heirloom of battle which you can hand down to your descendents.

Alfric is available in several different versions, to accomodate your tastes:

Alfric of Glory

The Alfric of Glory is as shown pictured above, with all carvings & gems. The steel has a nice, satin finish. Price $2,400.

Alfric of War

The Alfric of War is forged in the same strong fashion, and has 20 Runes carved into the blade, but it does not have the sun-moon-stars carvings, nor any runes or gems on the hilt. The Alfric of War can have it's blade and hilt steel finished in two ways (at no difference in cost), either a sanded, satin finish, or a hammer texture finish. Price $1,100.

Specifications:
Blade length: about 30 inches,
Blade width: about 2.5 inches at base, tapering up to about 1.5 inches just behind tip
Blade thickness: about 3/16" maximum thickness.
Hilt length: about 8 inches
Overall weight: About 3 lbs
As with any hand made weapon, there may be some minor variation in shape.

The Sword Alfric is not an in-stock item, you would have to commission one. A 50% security deposit is required to reserve a spot on the work schedule, with the remaining 50% plus shipping due upon completion.
