Common Questions

Hello. I really like to talk about baseball gloves with other collectors.

Unfortunately, these days I just don't have enough time to devote to my hobby to respond to all of my email. I often fall befind in my email and have no problem with you sending multiple reminder type emails ... they usually work. However, It's safe to say that appraisal type email requests are lowest on the list. The best way to find out how much something is worth is to auction it on ebay (www.ebay.com). One last thing, descriptive email subject lines are really helpful (and make it less likely that I will mistake it for spam ... which just gets deleted). Thanks.

The sections below answer many of the questions that I am typically asked. I added this section in an effort to spend more "quality" time with each person, while decreasing the overall time I spend on my hobby.

Glove Purchase Process

My purchase process has evolved into the following:

        1) You email me to put an item on hold
        2) I'll put the item on hold for you and reply with the total and my address
        3) You send payment (PayPal, money order, or check)
        4) Upon payment clearing I send the item to the address you specified (signature preferred)
        5) You reply that you have received the item and your level of satisfaction
        6) I kick myself for parting with the item

If by chance you are seriously interested in selling me a glove, or helping date a glove for you, the following information is very helpful to help me determine age and condition.

Glove Helpful Information

Helpful information includes the following:

What is the manufacturer, model number, and endorsement?
Is the leather soft and supple with a completely smooth lining?
Any major flaws such as writing, cracking, holes, open seams, odors, or missing parts?
What type of webbing is between the index finger and thumb?
Does it have a cloth label and/or stamping on the button?
Does the back strap secure by button, buckle, or lace?

Of course, pictures are worth a thousand words.

Buying Process

I'm always buying nice USA-made gloves with no major flaws (relacing is ok). However, you'd probably be surprised to find that only about 1 out of 10 people who contact me with gloves to sell actually follow through. So, I have therefore modified my buying process into the following.

You come up with a price you'd be really happy with (this really is important if you truly want to sell it).
I send you an agreed-upon deposit (or full amount).
I possibly send even more money if it turns out nicer than the pictures indicated (really).
