Arnold!Dear Arnold.....Arnold's books!
Dear Arnold:
I have a 4-month old pom that looks similar to yours. She's really cute, but the only problem that I have with her is that she bites way too much! Any advice for me? Cindy

Dear Cindy,
Jaws!     You're going to need some heavy-duty shoes. Pomeranians have a very strong jaw. We don't know how hard we're biting, so it's best to teach us that biting persons is not allowed in any form. Make sure to tell your Pom's friends and family not to "rough-house" or play with her by wiggling their fingers and doing that "grrr, grrr" thing. Our "playful" bites can really hurt. Let your Pom know it's okay to "grrr, grrr" with a toy only. And never, never let us have something we want if we've used our teeth to get your attention. We're pretty smart and we'll figure things out!

Dear Arnold:
Santa brought me a pom puppy 3 weeks ago and we have bonded big time. She goes with me to work, to walk, and to the bathroom! What a little fur buddy. I look forward to many years of delightful companionship. Now help me with potty training! Debbie

Dear Debbie,
Uh....potty training......well that wasn't exactly my strong suit. I had a hard time understanding why my persons prefered that I potty outdoors. They didn't! When I was real little, they trained me with newspapers, but unfortunately when I went outside or to the park, I wouldn't potty unless I could find a piece of paper on the ground! I finally got the hang of it when my persons would go outside with me and say, "hurry - hurry." Then after I did my business they'd say, "good boy, Arnold!" Now I "hurry - hurry" outside with no problem!

Dear Arnold:
My Pomeranian seems to pant alot. Is that normal? Jim

Arnold in the snow!Dear Jim,
I pant a lot, too. It's very easy for a Pom to get too warm. Just look at the thick undercoat of fur we have! We were bred in cold climates and the warmth of a heated home or a hot summer can be hard for us. I go outside often to cool off. I just plop down in the snow and say, "ahhh...." In the summer, I have my own little swimming pool in my yard and jump in whenever I get too hot!

Dear Arnold:
Do you know or are you a breeder as well? If so could you tell me when your next litter is do please? Thank you!! Diane

Arnold's Adopted Children!Dear Diane,
Well, thanks to my Dear Doctor, there won't be any "little Arnolds" in the future, if you know what I mean. But that's okay! There are lots and lots of dogs out there waiting to be adopted into loving homes! ....oh and a few cats I suppose.
