The Olde Colony Civil War Round Table Scholarship
The Olde Colony Civil War Round Table Scholarship is re-named as
William J. Bernache -- Olde Colony Civil War Scholarship
on December 3, 2002.The Old Colony Civil War Round Table contributed an annual scholarship to
The Civil War Institute at Gettysburg College
to a High School student from Massachusetts to study Civil War.

The Civil War Institute at Gettysburg College presents a week-long program each summer during the last week of June and includes lectures, battlefield tours, films and other special activities. The CWI has sponsored this Institute since 1983, and 300 students of the war attend. Scholarships to attend the annual Civil War Institute are available for high school juniors and high school history teachers.
A full scholarship covers a shared non-air-conditioned dorm room, board and tuition. Transportation costs are NOT covered by scholarship funds. Only first-time attendees are eligible for scholarships.
The deadline of the application is April 30.
Andrew Gerst of Newton High School was the first recipient of the 2001 Olde Colony Civil War Scholarship Fund. The Civil War Institute at Gettysburg College acknowledged that the Olde Colony Civil War Round Table of Massachusetts had sponsored this 2001 scholarship.
Meghan Phillips of East Bridgewater High School was the recipient of the 2002 Olde Colony Civil War Scholarship Fund. The Civil War Institute at Gettysburg College acknowledged that the Olde Colony Civil War Round Table of Massachusetts had sponsored this 2002 scholarship and sent a letter to thank us.
Ashley Whitehead, from Lynnfield, MA, a student from the Phillips Academy in Andover, MA, was the recipient of the 2003 William J. Bernache -- Olde Colony Civil War Scholarship.

Re-naming of the Scholarship
The Olde Colony Executive Board re-named the Civil War Scholarship as
William J. Bernache -- Olde Colony Civil War Scholarship
on December 3, 2002 by unanimous vote, in honoring Bill Bearnche for his great contribution to our Round Table for so many years.
