INTRODUCTORY STUFF: I started this project because I thought we needed a book that was a little more informative than 'Gothic Rock' by Mick Mercer. It's an entertaining book, but actually getting any information out it can be a pain. This is being written by fans, for potential fans. None of us are professional music critics here (at least, I don't *think* any of us are :> ) It is, I'm sure, riddled with typos and disremembered information, but it's the best I can make it with the time I can devote to it. If you want to contribute, mail me at gothbook@aol.com. If you think your favorite band has been slighted, there is really only one solution you know, write an entry yourself. At this point, if it hasn't been done yet, it's unlikely to get get done unless someone besides me does it. Also feel free to mail me just to comment or say thanks. :) I especially want to know about broken links or web pages I don't have listed. Even little tidbits of info are helpful. But be kind please, I'm not web-designer and I've never done this before, reasonably readable is what I'm aiming for at the moment. Thank-you notes will insure that one day I'll actually finish the monster. :)
The basic format is going to be thus: 1) band, status, country, 2) a brief paragraph describing the band and it's history, and 3) an abbreviated DISCOGRAPHY. The DISCOGRAPHY will mostly only note singles when they contain tracks not available elsewhere and only as singles, not 7"s or 12"s, since often I won't know what format they came out in anyway and are not necessarily complete. Bands that I know absolutely zero about have simply been deleted for the most part, and bands that
I know very little about are going to get an abbreviated entry at best unless somebody volunteers to do it, any help will be greatly appreciated. If you're in a band that has been slighted, you can always send me something upon which I can base an entry. Bribery works. :> The author of each entry will be noted at the header. Entries with no notation mean I did it. Just so you know who to blame. I take no responsibility for joel's punctuation. :-> Information liberally cribbed from Gothic Rock by Mick Mercer were necessary. Addresses are absolutely *NOT* guaranteed to be correct, the newer band ones should be right, any band past 1990, use your own judgement, I included them only because I figured somebody might wanna try. If you do and get any results, lemme know :>
