Groove #1:
I wrote this one in my Sociology during the summer of '96 (3 hours at 9:00am
3x weekly!). It has a nice transparent linear texture to it.
Groove #2:
This one is similar to the part in the beginning of Sepultura's "Territory".
Note the right hand pattern is merely 1/8th notes between the crash
and tom tom. (The accents are a suggestion)
Groove #3:
This uses a paradiddle sticking moved over to start on the second note
(RLLR LRRL). Keep the inner beats down. It's fun at 140 bpm +
Groove #4:
I adapted this 7/8 beat from Dave Weckl's "The Next Step" book
Groove #5:
This is similar to the part Mike Portnoy plays at the end of "Learning
to live". If not, it's what I play.
Groove #6:
This is similar to the part Weckl plays in the "B" section of "Festival
de Ritmo"
Buddy
Rich, the greatest drummer that ever lived, was notorious for the way
he treated his band. Even after a perfect gig he would find reasons
to berate them.
This is an
example of what they might hear after a show. (If you're
offended by graphic language, DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS!
If you do find it amusing, send it to all your
friends.)
The voice you hear is
Buddy's. This is NOT a hoax, but merely a sample of an entire
tape made by his band members whom I assume thought it would
be humorous to preserve their pre- and post-gig 'pep-talks'.
