Grid What?
(If you're interested, I've also gotten to attend master classes and meet Evelyn Glennie, Leigh Stevens, Bob Becker, Freddie Macarez, Dave Weckl, Vic Firth, and Bill Moersch)
Our portraits were taken just before 1998 DCI Atlantic championships. The uniforms were redone less than 6 hours after the photos were taken.
In no specific order, special thanks go to the following people for their contributions (knowingly or otherwise) to this page.:
After having the initial date of CMBC 3-open finals postponed for weather, schedule conflicts forced the band to compete in 4-open and our percussion section still came out on top! (9.5) I'd like to thank Mr. Gilroy, Mr. Thompson, Mr. Delucia, Mr. Higgins, Mr. Thurston and Mr. Hardimon for giving us the numbers all season as well as the rest of the staff; Brian Wheeler, Chris Tarantino, and Chris Matty, for the work put into the show to make the section's success possible. The Jersey Surf '97 scrapbook
L to R from LLHC: Derrick, Curt, Becca, the disco ball, Nick (now on #3 with the Cadets), Justin, Alicia, Kirstin, and Mikey. This pic sums an element of drum corps that I haven't really touched elsewhere on the page: Bus Life This pic was taken by myself, from my cozy, but spacious seat on tour in '97. Yes, it was hot, yes, the uniforms were a little dank, but it was ok. We had just gotten hooked up with some free soda after playing a stand still at a 4-H fair.
I forget the exact reasoning, but we ended up sleeping outside one night. This was one of the few times I was up before everyone, and I knew it was a kodak moment. "All I ever needed to know, I learned in drum corps" by Leah Corson with appendix by John "Puppy" Wheeler and Lauren Siple (This list actually found its way into Drum Corps World's March '98 Issue. Kudos to Leah and company) '97 Surf Audio scrapbook Over the summer, I keep a "Tour log" of daily happenings w/ a mini tape recorder. I make a few brief comments each day and sometimes I also happen to capture some rather humorous moments on tape. I put together the best of these sound bytes into one RA file. It's 3:38 long so enjoy! (RA) For more information on the Surf, check out their website, call the hotline at 609-753-DRUM or mail the director, Bob Jacobs. Blood is thicker than...
Here's a shot of my 'little' brother Jason at the parade for the premier of Disney's 'Hercules', in New York City. He performed there with Hillsborough's marching band. Coincidentally the Crossmen and the Surf marched in the same parade. | |||||||||||
