Bab illustrations of the works of Gilbert & Sullivan
This web site contains Bab illustrations of the Gilbert and Sullivan operettas.
This site contains high resolution copies of Bab illustrations. They are well suited to being down loaded
and added to other documents. For example: they look really sharp when printed in a two inch frame
using a laser printer.
These high resolution copies can not be displayed by most web browsers. Because of that, I have added thumbnail sketches to the selection pages. The URL of the thumbnail sketch is the same as the URL for the full size illustration except the "_" has been changed to "-". For example: if then name of the full size illustration is "mik_axe.gif", the name of the thumbnail sketch would be "mik-axe.gif".
What are Bab Illustrations?
Bab illustrations are sketches drawn by W. S. Gilbert to illustrate his works. The "Bab"
designation comes from the signature that he used on his illustrations. "Bab" was Gilbert's
pet name as a baby.

Since anything that was published before 1920 is no longer copyrighted, and
I add no copyright of my own, these GIF files are free from copyright. Permission is hereby granted to use the material on this site for any purpose.
