Maui Vacation Condominium - Hale Kai 203
 |

Here
are some of the best things about the Hale Kai :
- The Hale Kai is an
oceanfront condominium with an oceanfront pool
and a sandy beach.
- No charge for
local calls. -- Pizza Hut knows your address at
#203 when you call from the apartment !
- No charge for
parking.
- Laundry facility
at very reasonable cost (currently $1.25 for
washer) on the property.
- Knowledgeable
rental manager available to assist you in our
on-site office 5 1/2 days a week.
- Condo manager on
the property. Both the condo manager and the
rental manager may be reached at posted emergency
nos 24/7.
- All apartments
have well-equipped kitchens with full sized
appliances.
- Apartments have
TV, DVD and CD players, cable tv, radios, ceiling
fans, remote phones with answering machines.
- The Hale Kai is 10
minutes from Historic Lahaina Town -- old whaling
village and former Royal Capital of the Hawaiian
Islands.
- The condo has a
no-host sunset cocktail party poolside
approximately every other Sunday -- a nice way to
meet visitors and owners. (Always remember, no
glass or breakables by the pool . . .)
- You can buy
orchids from the local ACE Hardware in Lahaina
for $9.95 & up to enjoy while you are here.
Especially if you are staying for 10 days or
more, it is a worthwhile investment. Photo
Of Orchid Orchids are also
available at the farmers' market (see following).
- The official Hale
Kai slogan is: "Your home by the sea."
But we like: "Cute little place right on the
water."
A
couple of tips:
You can avoid the stress
of the big commercial airport on the
other side of the island by flying into
our small West Maui - Kapalua airport
(JHN). See MAP of
Maui.
Island Air flies prop
planes into JHN from Honolulu. That is
how we get here. Go Airline flies into
JHN also.
There are car rental agencies 5
minutes away, and Hale Kai has a deal
with Budget -- check with our rental
office for details.
Why spend $400 to stay
down the road and only get a hotel room?
Stay here and have a suite, for less.
Of course, we think our
apartment is the best, but the truth is
that all the Hale Kai apartments are
nice.

Fall
'07 Update
New Stove: This just in! Just got the
new stove
installed after two days of trying. It didn't quite fit
and the surrounding cabinets had to be shaved down a
little bit.
Loft Vents - Solar Powered: Two vents have
been installed in the loft which pull the warm air out
through the roof. They are quite effective, and the fans
in them are each powered by a small solar panel.

What's up at
Hale Kai #203 -- Summer '08
What's new: Some of you
have already met our new on-site manager,
Annie, and her family. She has been working very hard
pruning trees and bushes, and landscaping the grounds.
She will be happy to help with any problems relating to
the condo complex, like needing more propane, or a
washing machine or dryer not working.
Found a great lamp at one of the antique
/ used furniture stores over in Wailuku. Apparently it
came out of a hotel being re-done, and it has the same
fern pattern embossed on it as is in the couch fabric.

We are trying to use florescent
light bulbs where possible. In addition to
saving energy, they are not as hot as regular ones.
We replaced the bedroom carpet. We are
thinking that next time we need a new carpet in the
living room, we will install a wood or laminate floor
instead.
Some questions:
* Do you like the basket of snacks or is it too much junk
food?
* Do you think there are too many chairs in the living
room?
* Do you think we have too many books in the apartment?
Any thoughts or comments? Send us an email: halekai203
at aol.com .
Let us know if you encounter problems while staying in
203. For example, the solar powered vent fan in the half
bath was making a racket, which we did not realize until
we got here. (It is fixed now.)
We have decided the best place to get an orchid, if you
would like to have one to keep you company during your
stay, is across the street at the farmers market. The
flower lady gives great advice about keeping them alive
and happy, and she has good prices.
As always, our thanks to all who have taken the time to
get in touch with us. We appreciate your time and
interest.
