The North West Lancashire branch of the HDA has it's own Young Carers group. This means that every month a group of young carers and young people who are "at risk" meet up to discuss any problems or concerns they may have.

The group also has outings. So far we have been to Camelot, Alton towers, Ice skating, bowling and zapp zone.

The group isn't only about going out but giving young people a break from home.

We meet every month at the same time and place as the adult group but we have a room to ourselves.

Our thanks to our regional advisor Jacqueline Osborne and also to Cath Stanley for their help with this group.

We have a professional youth counsellor present at our meetings. Individual help and counselling is available for any youngster who may need it. Our thanks to Denise and Pat.

Any young person who is involved in any way with HD is welcome at our meetings. We would welcome people from neighbouring districts who might not have a young carers group of their own. Email Richard or Julie with comments, suggestions, questions or just for a chat.
