November 1997

Thanksgiving, oh do I have a lot to be thankful for!! If you have not read it earlier, I received a liver transplant in September and that has given me a new life! Praise God, I am so thankful! Here are three Thanksgiving patterns you can make into a wall handing. These are bigger blocks (8") because many of you who wrote me asked for more variety in sizes. So here you go! Enjoy your Thanksgiving and take time to remember what you are thankful for in this last year. Make a tradition, before you eat, to go around the Thanksgiving table and ask each member what they are thankful for!

Using this months patterns and patterns from other sources, make a Thanksgiving wall hanging to greet your guests.

Thanksgiving

8" Corn Block

Look for corn fabric to make your corn on the cob, or experiment with other fabrics. You can also quilt in the kernels if you like!

4" Pumpkin

When quilting this be sure to add the crease lines to make the pumpkin puff and round (see wall hanging picture). I have also used this pattern to make apples just by changing the fabric. It is VERY simple but none the less fits with the theme.

8" Pilgrim

The eyes, nose and mouth our pilgrim are created by quilting with black embroidery thread. Early next year look for a complete family of people to make your own community quilt!
