Thursday May, 16. Somewhere near highway 74 Received another call this morning from Roger. He has spent the last two days hiking in rather open country towards Idyllwild. It has been very hot and Roger is having problems staying hydrated. He has been carrying extra water but has lost some of his appetite. But, now he is on to the next section with a hamburger in his pocket!Next stop should be Idlywild, not far from highway 10 near Palm Springs. This area is higher and cooler and should be more comfortable.
Tuesday May 14. Warner SprintsRoger has travelled 111 miles from the Mexican border to Warner Springs near Highway 79. It has been very hot and he had one 25 mile portion without water. Rogers Itinerary

Roger has divided his trip into 28 logical segments. Each segment ends at a town or resort that handles U.S. mail. To resupply himself roger has sent a box to each of the 28 post offices containing food and other things he thinks he may need. Roger's Itinerary lists each resupply point with mileage information for the section.

Sending Stuff to Roger

In order for Roger to be a happy camper I'm sure he would appreciate any goodies you might choose to send him. Just be sure you watch his progress and make sure you allow enough time to mail the parcel. Note that you can mail later by sending things 1st Class. Take a look, Roger has 28 addresses.

Roger Who?

A few blurbs about Roger. Check him out.

Roger's Bud's

Being a personable kind of guy, Roger has lots of really neat, great, fantastic, smart, good looking, interesting and active friends. Here's one now, on her way to the top of North America's second tallest mountain: 19,800 foot tall Mt Logan located in Canada's frozen northern Yukon Territory. Take a look at Julie's Adventure.

Give Roger a piece of your Mind (The Roger Register)

What do you think of a guy that wants to walk 2600 miles? Since I've know Roger for a while (nearly 18 years) I think I know why, but I'm curious what you think. Give Roger a piece of your mind in the Roger Register.

The Pacific Crest Trail

A great deal of effort went into establishing the PCT. I will eventually add more to this subject.

Long Distance Hiking

For some this is a way of life. More to do here too!

The Gear

Ah yes, gear. Roger is now completing the gear cycle. He has gone from army surplus, to REI low budget, to "PataGucci" (read, expensive boutique gear) to no frills, dump the weight, make at home, super lightweight stuff. I'll get back to this one also.
