The CASE Index along with the CASE Outline pages presented here are invaluable for a person trying to find their place in the John CASE and Sarah SPENCER line of descendants. If you suspect that you are a CASE cousin, and you are able to research back a few generations, you can first look in the CASE Index for your earliest male CASE ancestor and then use the number after his name to locate him in the CASE Outline presented here. I believe that only a small portion of the descendants are shown here but, with luck, you may find your link and reduce your research time and effort considerably.
The information on these pages was collected over a period of 20 years from various sources. My intent in presenting it is for reference only. I have carefully researched the dates and places of my close ancestors but most of the other information was collected from bits and pieces and I cannot vouch for it's accuracy. Occasionally I have placed a note where I have found a discrepancy or suspicious date. There are a few places where I have dates but I could not find my source and for these I apologize; use them with caution. I must also plead guilty to not being perfect and suggest that I may have made a typo or two or ...
The number assigned to the same individual in both the CASE Outline and the CASE Index should be identical (let me know if they are not.) The numbering system is known as a Modified Henry System. Who Henry was or how his system was modified I do not know. The numbers start with number one being the immigrant John CASE and his first born child is designated as 11 (not eleven but one-one) and his second child would be designated as 12 (one-two). In order for the numbering to work, each child must have a single digit or character to prevent confusion, therefore a tenth child is designated with the letter "A" rather than 10 and the 11th child would be "B" etc. For example, an individual with a number of 15A2 would be the second (2) child born to his FATHER and his father would be the 10th (A) child of his father and that person would be the 5th (5) child of the immigrant John CASE who is the number one (1).
