Embrace Volunteers

Volunteer Seedlings

Volunteers, seeds that have fallen
and germinated from a previous planting
rather than having been sown, are an
easy source of new plants.

The trick is learning to recognize the
volunteers so that you don't pull them
when weeding.

Start by observing seedlings that you've
planted. When you see a volunteer
seedling that matches, encourage it to
grow and see what happens.
