Now the begining.....
Hi everyone, We have waited a long time to have a child in our home and it looks like our dream has finally come true. We have adopted a Romanian Princess into our family. The process has been grueling but we would do it all again if it meant getting her home. Anyone wanting information on Eastern European adoption contact me and if I have the answer you will have it. If not I can try to find it. It's not as hard as you think.
Below are different stages we were in while this page was being constructed. Updates follow.
For family members who wonder where we are in the process because you haven't heard from us..Here goes..
We were waiting for the lady to do our homestudy for international adoption. She has to get our records from the foster care social worker. All our INS stuff is done and Romanian stuff is done. We are awaiting approval, which means we have to get this homestudy ball rolling first. All of our paper work is in order. Now we have to hurry and wait. We are shooting for June 1! Gosh that is quick!
Say a prayer for us please!
Update: Our homestudy was completed and we received an approved copy of it on May 7th, 1999. The lady from Ms. Childrens Home Society came to our home on May 2nd. We would like to thank Ms. Miller for doing an excellent job on it and for being so quick and nice. It only took her 4 days to write it up and send it back. She gave us a great approval. Now we just hope the rest goes this easy!
On May 28,1999 at 12:45pm the INS officer called and wanted us to be in New Orleans by 4pm. It was storming, holiday and weekend traffic and at least 2 hours away. We made it by 3. Approved by INS and had our I171H in hand by 3:30. We are approved for 2 but for now Mindra will have our undivided attention.
We have a tentative date of July 23, 1999 for her arrival, unless something happens. This will prove to be a day never to forget.
July 28,1999 V39 visas fax comes into the Romanian Consultate just in the nick of time.
July 31,1999 Darryl leaves New Orleans for New York to meet with the escort tomorrow. Mindra will be arriving at Kennedy with another child and her escort whose name is Nick.
August 1,1999 Mindra will be home!!!!!!
August 21,1999 Mindra is home and doing very well. She has been to the doctor and we found her ears to be very clogged. (reason for hearing problem? we don't know) She has adjusted very well and loves her new daddy and mommy very much.
Her signing is good also. She has about 150 words that she signs regularly. Already in only 3 weeks.
