Who we are and what we believe.

My name is Howard S. Russell. My family and I (in order of decending age), Barbara, Stephen and Joseph, pastor Joyce Avenue Wesleyan Methodist Church.

At Joyce Avenue Church we recognize the importance of having the right priorities. Often the Church community misses the instruction of Jesus by losing focus. It has been said that the most important thing is to "keep the main thing the main thing".

We follow the teaching of Jesus that tells us that our first priority is to Glorify God. When we put God first in our priorities we find Him worthy of our worship and capable of handling our problems. As we fall in love with Him we come to worship Him. When we worship Him we find His desires our desires.

Our second priority becomes Loving one another. We fall in love with our fellow Christians. Jesus said, "the World will know you are my disciples by the way you love one another." We take care of our own. Christian love embraces those who are part of the Christian community.

The third priority is that we win the lost. When the World sees how we worship our God and the wonderful things He does for us and how we love one another they will become hungry for what we have as Christians. We will win the lost World, not by forcing Christ on them, but by showing them the true God and the love of fellow Christians.

We would enjoy hearing from you. We believe that the encouragment of fellow Christians and the challenges from unbelievers stimulate our ability to serve God.

For directions to the church. Take Western Avenue exit off I-640. Go east to Sanderson Road. Turn right. Go to Liberty Street and turn left. You will immediately come to Joyce Avenue. Turn right and here you are!
