A proper video calibration will improve your hometheater experience by providing accurate color and tempurature settings and proper geometry. Video displays should have a linear grey scale and a color tempurature of 6500K. Besides the benefit of having an improved picture, your display will generally last longer. This is because you will not be overdriving it.
A complete calibration requires the expertise of an Imaging Science Foundation trained technician and specialized instruments. However, the ISF has produced a disc (available on LD and DVD) that will allow the average hometheater enthusiast to vastly improve their display in a about one hour. Video Essentials takes you step by step through a calibration process and educates the user about the benefits of each adjustment. All of the basic calibration procedures can be performed using the front panel controls.
The Imaging Science
Foundation maintains a complete data base of certifed technicians around
the country.
