The following references may contain facts and information which may create excessive mental stress on certain type environmental advocates and/or bureaucrats. The possible symptoms are not limited to headaches, uncharacteristic cyclic mood swings, and using your Rush Limbaugh necktie as a headband. Proceed at your own risk if you fall into this category.

Now wait a minute! This would imply the the spirits distilled in the fine
state where I have roots, would be the choice of a cheap drunk.
This fine sippin' whiskey has been produced in the same way that the
hard working Mr Jack did back in 1866. Don't believe me! Just visit

don't know

Toxic Compounds
Links Page. This page (click on
the skull) provides sources of fast and reliable data on various
chemical compounds. The Material Data Safety Sheets (MSDS) at Vermont SIRI
and the listed educational institutes provide fast search for product names
as well as chemical name. Various government and non-government sources
information on various toxic compounds. Musical chemistry and songs
of Cesium. Information on the controversial vapor
intrusion pathway that may be of concern to human health. Why

Weather
and Climate Links Page. This page
(click on the icon) provides sources on
short-term and long-term weather forecasts. This page also provides (almost)
real-time satellite photographs, links to USGS stream gages, and how to find
out the weather in Hell. The historical satellite sources also focus on global
environmental and disaster areas. The Microsoft Terraserver in the "MEGASOURCES"
section (below) provides high resolution, although coverage is limited in
some areas.

The most diverse information that I am aware
of on the environment comes from the
EnviroLink Home Page
. Pennsylvania specific issues, resources, and contacts can be found on the
Pennsylvania Environmental Network
. The
PEN
provides links to various activism groups and detailed information on various
topics.
Any activists that can successfully dump five tons of coal and five fake drums, representing oil and nuclear waste, on VP Cheney's residence at the Naval Observatory has got to have some good points. This non-violent protest was done by Greenpeace USA activists as a statement on the current energy policies. Greenpeace always seems to be associated with marine environmental issues. However, there seems to be more diversity including toxic waste and genetic engineering. The Greenpeace International Homepage is an excellent source of diverse environmental issues with a drop down menu for the various regional Greenpeace links. The Greenpeace Cybercentre also provides a forum for discussion and recommendations on possible focus groups.
The Care2 homepage also appears to be a very useful source of environmental information. The lynx search is very similar to other common search engines like Yahoo. However, the categories are all environmental and more user friendly than many other (not listed here) environmental search pages. The homepage also provides a well organized on-line secured shopping with major and green merchants, with 10-percent of their commission going to environmental non-profit organizations. The environmental news, community, and other features make this a worthwhile visit.
Ecopolitics Links Page.
This page provides the original links, and some recently added links to the
politics of the environment. Those that would trash environmental regulations
as well as those that would defend the environment are listed. Turn up the
speakers and click the "Krusty the Clown"
icon to enter the ecopolitical bigtop.

Numerous US Government Newsgroups were provided on the former International GovNews Project. This project presented a list of over 200 newsgroups on information posted by the federal government including the EPA, OSHA, FEMA, and most other agencies. The one advantage of this site was the ability to read and post messages without the need of a newsreader. This project was initially started in February 1995 with the support of Al Gore (could that be the origin of that infamous misquote on the Internet?) and numerous government and private sector individuals. Unfortunately, this project was scrapped with the Bush administration in short order and replaced with the watered down FirstGov. This link will provide access to goverment agencies with quite a bit of mouse clicks and an adequate attention span. The objective of the Hydra's page is to provide environmental and information gateways that lead to information with minimal fluff. The subpages attempt to cut through layers of fluff where appropriate. Any suggestions and links are always appreciated.
For a no-holds barred discussion on various Pennsylvania environmental issues try my Pennsylvania Environment Group at Yahoo (formerly of the egroups.com) Groups. This discussion group (not to be confused with the pa.environment USENET newsgroup) should provide a forum for various topics. The up side of this type of format is providing a message board, file transfers, polls, and chat capability. The minor down side is you will have to become a member (suggest only provide limited and no identifying personal information) to post and fully utilize this moderated group. The positive side of the moderator controlled membership is the elimination of off-topic commercials. The free membership to this group is open and controlled by myself. Click the hyperlink or the form at the bottom of the page for more information.

2. If we did, it didn't migrate.

4. If it migrated far, nobody came into contact

5. If somebody did come in contact with it, it's

(click the garbage can) on what was formerly
known as "waste minimization" are presented in current politically correct
terminology. References from international and U.S. States on various pollution
prevention programs, and available process specific topics. General information
on the international ISO program and specific standards which deal with
environmental auditing. Information on specific and realistic individual
actions to improve lifestyle and home. Whats the environmental effects of
those catalogs and junk mails tossed out every day? An excerpt from the
catalogprinting.net website:
Whats at stake here is the Boreal Forest, an amazing wilderness that stretches from Alaska clear across Canada to the Atlantic Ocean. It is one of the largest intact ecosystems in the world, but very little of it is protected:
Two acres a minute (24 hours a day) are hewn down to provide catalog, junk mail, magazines, newspapers, paper, and toilet paper.
Less than 8% of the Boreal is protected.
Boreal is a key regulator of our global climate.
Boreal is a critical habitat for many species (including endangered caribou and half of North Americas songbirds).
