The tropical paradise known as the Isle of Vos is about 145 km (about 90 mi) long and about 80 km (about 50 mi) wide. Area, 5623 sq km (2171 sq mi). It is the primary storage area for goods being imported and exported from Phoenix Rising, Ltd - an intermediary port between the Port of Rhydin and the European ports of call. It is a mountainous, tropical island directly in the path of the trade winds. These conditions account for its tropical rain forest and tropical wet and dry climates. Except at night, in the highest areas, the air is always warm.The principal cities are the northern port of Dawn's Harbor, the capital, and Puerto Angelica, near the southern coast. Mountain ranges cross the island from east to west. In the south the land descends to form an alluvial plain, watered by shallow rivers, dry in the dry season and overflowing whenever there are periods of heavy rains. Rice is grown on irrigated, terraced hillsides; other crops include sugarcane, coffee, copra, tobacco, fruits, and vegetables. Cattle and hogs are also raised. The people of Vos Island are skilled artisans, particularly in wood carving, and in fashioning objects of tortoiseshell and of gold, silver, and other metals. The women of the island are noted for their traditional dancing and for their skills in weaving cloth of gold and silver threads, as well as for embroidering silk and cotton clothing.

The Ports of the Isle of Vos are all natural, sheltered ports that offer safe, fast, efficient and reliable handling of both ships and cargo. The Isle has always played an important role in international commerce due to its strategic location, stable political conditions and its deep and wide naturally sheltered main harbor, Dawns Harbor. Add to this the fact that the Isle of Vos is located off the main hurricane routes and you have the perfect gateway to Rhydin.
