The International Arts-Medicine Association is a non-profit organization formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1985 by Richard A. Lippin, M.D., IAMA founding president and president through 1995. The organization has about 300 members in 20 countries. The IAMA purpose is to provide a forum for interdisciplinary, international communication between arts and health professionals. Members include clinicians, educators, researchers and artists who have an interest in one or more of the many aspects of the relationships between arts and health.
[Note IAMA is currently not a membership organization but the website will be maintained and referral services will be provided.]
The IAMA model of arts-medicine includes:
1) Performing Arts-Medicine;
2) Arts Therapies and
3) Arts in Health Care Settings.
