Knots and Fishing Knots make knot tying a breeze. Simply have a couple of pieces of rope handy to follow the step-by-step animation. Go forward, go backward or run automatically. See front and back views of the tied and tightened knot. Progressing to a new knot is easy. For example, once you learn the Figure 8 Knot (and you probably do), you will never forget how to tie the Figure 8 Bend. (Some say the Figure 8 Bend is strongest bend of all!) From the Bowline , you are ready to tie the Double Bowline, Bowline in the Bight and Triple Bowline - all very simple and useful adaptations of the basic knot. Learn the Sheet Bend, Double Sheet Bend, One Way Sheet Bend and Becket's Bend. Besides the animated knots, you can also learn knots such as the Figure 8 Loop, Stopper Knots, Double Surgeon's Knot, Ground Line Hitch, Camel Hitch and many, many more.
Learn when and when not to use a knot. Learn why you must never use a Reef or Square Knot to join or bend two ropes as Boy Scouts are often taught. Learn the difference between a Left Handed and Right Handed Bowline or Sheet Bend and which one to use. (One is less reliable than the other.) If you don't know how to tie a Constrictor Knot (acts like a vice or clamp), download the demo for Knots. It is there for free along with the Bowline (and others). Need a crude pulley? The Trucker's Knot is just the thing. Use it to tie down canoes and other loads to a car rack or truck bed. Need a knot to use with the new non-stretch 'super' fishing lines. Try a Double Palomar Knot or the Uni-Knot. Why lose a fish because of the wrong knot? If you fish, try the free Fishing Knots demo.
Both program include Knotting Terminology and an illustration of Parts of a Rope to aid learning. Onboard Help is available, although you probably will never use it. You just point and click to navigate.
With these programs and a little practice, master dozens of knots - quickly and effortlessly.
