Notes:

Daniel Brugh served in the American Revolutionary War. In 1789 Daniel purchased his fathers land in York Co. Pennsylvania. Three years later in 1792, Daniel, his wife and children, and his father and mother moved to Botetourt Co. Fincastle, Virginia. The new farm was located at the intersection of Fincastle Rd. and Great Road on Mill Creek. Daniel Brugh was the first Brugh to own land in the state of Virginia. In 1798 Daniel paid taxes on 500 acres of land in Botetourt Co. Fincastle, Virginia. The Pennsylvania land that he bought from his father was traded in 1801 to Anthony Deardorff for 531 acres of land in Botetourt Co. Virginia. Near the intersection of Fincastle Rd. and the Great Road, on Mill Creek, Daniel built a grist mill. This mill remained in operation for 90 years. Daniel is buried in the Simmons-Brugh Graveyard in Botetourt Co. Virginia. His will was probated in Botetourt Co. Virginia, and recorded in Botetourt Co. Will Book E, pg. 6. After Daniel died his personal property was sold bringing almost $3000.00, and his land was divided between his children and his wife
