Mac and Pete are captured by Murdoc who locks them in the back of a truck, which he plans to blow up with dynamite. Mac and Pete reminisce about how they first encountered each other and Murdoc. Seven years before Mac gave a cab ride to a disguised Murdoc and was then recruited by Pete to help apprehend the killer.

While mountain climbing Mac's friend Mike is killed. Mac blames himself and hides away in Pete's cabin. Nikki goes up to talk some sense into him. The two are unaware that Mac's old, and still not dead, enemy, Murdoc is stalking them. After burning down Pete's cabin, blowing up Nikki's car and mining the road out, Murdoc chases the pair up the mountain.

Penny Parker invites Mac to the opening of her new musical. The entire production is for his benefit, courtesy of his old nemesis Murdoc who returns disguised as the director of the musical and hires Penny for his production to lure Mac to the theater. Mac manages to defeat Murdoc who falls into his own trap and disappears without a trace...again.

Murdoc asks MacGyver to help him rescue his sister from his former employers who will kill her if Murdoc doesn't give himself up by Midnight. Mac agrees and the masquerade begins. At a costume party, MacGyver and Murdoc cooperate to find and rescue the girl, who is being held captive in a macabre underground training center for killers.

Writer: Stephen Kandel After an argument with Pete, Mac falls asleep and dreams he is in the old west town of Serenity in the 1800's. There he encounters old west versions of his friends...and his mortal enemy. Upon his arrival, he meets Penny Parker as a dance hall girl and purchases a ranch from Jack Dalton.
Cast Notes:
Fifth appearance of Murdoc. Robert Donner who plays Milt Bowzer reprises that role in sixth
season's "MacGyver's Women" , second season's "Soft Touch" as Vince and fourth season's
"Cleo Rocks" as Wintergreen.

Murdoc comes back, and arranges to purposely put Mac's life in danger and intentionally save him as a way to pay back his debt to Mac, for saving his sister Ashton. After repaying his debt, Murdoc sets out with a cleared conscience to kill Mac. After Murdoc blows up the car Mac was driving, an amnesia ridden Mac makes it to a mountain cabin occupied by a woman and her daughter. Murdoc assumes Mac's identity and tries to convince the woman that Mac is Murdoc, a dangerous killer..

Murdoc, leaving his connections with H.I.T. behind him, returns as part of a South American military organization, much to the disbelief of all, except the ever-aware Mac, who, haunted by nightmares, is convinced that Murdoc is back. His job with the Foundation is put in jeopardy because the new manager of field operations feels his behavior will hinder the security of Pablo Delasora, for which Mac was responsible. Pete "fires" Mac to make it look good for the new manager, but also to free Mac so he can pursue Murdoc.
