In 1975, the 4449 was taken out of its retirement home in Oaks Park (Portland) and reactivated for use as the American Freedom Train. On its way across the country it pulled into Fargo, North Dakota for a publicity stop.
For more on the Freedom Train, it can be found online at www.freedomtrain.org.
Unfortunately, 20+ years
of aging has an undesirable effect on color slides. Nonetheless, they
were able to be made into prints and scanned into digital
format.
