Christopher Nutter came to the New World from Lancaster, England. For what reason, no has determined yet. Many feel his family had been persecuted for a long time and he wanted to begin a new life in a new land.
He was successful in his endeavors. He purchased thousands of acres of land, traded with the Indians, was a grower and a planter and last but not least, an Indian Interpretor, for which the settlers relied on heavily for peace among the Indian tribes and themselves. This spared them untold altercations with the Indians.
Christoper had a large family, eleven children. He married at a young age, to an even younger woman, Mary Dorman.
It was here in Somerset, Maryland that he realized his dreams, raised his family and was fianally laid to rest. The Heritage that he gave to me will forever be with my children and their children to come.
