Highland Barbarians
Clan GALBRAITH is comprised of approximately twenty-five Highland Warriors, skilled in various weaponry and crafts of the time period. Our present Chief is Magnus Galbraith, son of Edward. His Lady and personal guard is Bellana "am Broc" Galbraith. Our contingent of Scottish archers makes us easily recognizable at Faires. We are one of the few Scottish re-enactment groups who accurately portray our women as an equal part of our fighting force, each skilled in the weapons of their choice.
Our mercenary clan embraces the causes of those who's purses are large enough and who's ventures are challenging enough. At present we are charged with the protection of Lord Iain MacIain and his holdings.
It was the Galbraith of Gigha, who held the Island for the MacDonalds. One of our Clan's ancesters was "Sir Arthur" who fought beside "The Bruce" at Bannockburn. There is also evidence that The Galbraith were related to the mighty Celtic Earls of Lennox.
Clan Galbraith portrays the gritty reality of a harsh life of fighting and surviving in the Highlands in the 1500's, hence our motto "Ab Obice Saevior" (fiercer from adversity).
The Galbraith kneels to no foreign master and when not in battle "do as they will."
