Hackensack Elementary Schools Enrichment Programs
Enrichment Programs
Hackensack offers a variety of enrichment programs for students in the fourth and fifth grade. The program is in addition to the regular school day. Classes are held either before or after school. Students are identified through the use of multiple and specific criteria, applying both objective and subjective data. Criteria may include hard data taken from the Cognitive ability Test and the California Achievement test, above grade level in reading or math, and/or teacher nomination.

Humanities
- This program of study includes the following units:Critical and Creative Thinking
Independent Study
Literature Appreciation
Leadership Training
Math Enrichment
- This program encompasses all facets of logical reasoning and problem solving strategies. Children work together using their perceptual, verbal and critical thinking skills.Art Enrichment
- This program is for interested and talented fifth grade students. It enables the students an opportunity to work on more in-depth projects that would be difficult to complete during the regularly scheduled art period.
