Welcome Fishheads

Some people practice "catch and release" and some "catch and fillet". I don't think it hurts to do both. Many of the big fish you see here are still swimming in Lake Texoma. The little ones often go home with people for supper. Don't let anyone tell you not to take some fish for your supper or freezer. The really big fish aren't all that great to eat , so let some of them go to catch again.

The top fish is alive and well in Mr Lee Litchfords stocktank. It is a new tank and he wanted a big fish to control the mudcats.(someone will get a big surprise one of these days).

The lower picture is a fish that we caught with the help of Mike Smith but Mr Smith is way too ugly to be in a picture.

I hear lots of people arguing about the best times to fish. While some conditions might be a bit more favorable, I think you need to put some hooks in the water to know for sure. Fish are going to eat at some point and if you don't have a hook in the water you're going to miss out. NOBODY can tell you that they have the answer to when that time will be. NOBODY catches fish EVERY time they go fishing. If you aren't patient, you need to take up golf.

Catfish are not always night feeders as many people think. When I put juglines out, I often find that almost all the fish are caught in a 2-3 hour period. That might be daylight hours or night. Maybe even two feeds.

I will not even open the muddy or clear water, dark or light of the moon, or barometric pressure cans of worms. I have no inkling how these things affect catfish but I still catch lots of fish so who cares. Just go fishing.

The most important element in catching fish is confidence. If you have a fishing pole that you don't think will catch fish, chunk it. Have a bait that you're not real hot on? Leave it in the trash can at the dock. If you don't think you will catch fish, you just might not.
