This is an original design. You may have this design for personal use, gifts, or for teaching a crafts class. That was the original purpose of this little guy. A clean light bulb (a glass cleaner is good for this) spray can of Kilz or white primer White spray paint (unless you can live with a few brush-marks Glue gun and glue (I used a low-temp--I hate burns 6" x 6" piece of knit fabric--a stripe is really fun but not necessary 3" x 6" piece of black felt two 12" pieces of embroidery thread(I used red for the snowman's hanger and blue to hold the heart.) two buttons 1/2" or smaller two forked twigs, about 2" long a 1" wooden Heart 3/4" snowflake or other ornament small bit of greens and/or berries or a small mushroom bird black and orange acrylic paint small paintbrush
Paint face using picture of face as pattern. Trace sweater pattern (blue). Fold knitted fabric in half, lengthwise, and pin pattern in place. Cut fabric, cutting slit for neck where indicated. Sew up arm and down side seams taking a 1/4" seam allowance. Hem bottom with needle and thread or dots of low temp glue. Turn raw edges of neck to the inside and secure with more glue dots. Turn the sleeves under as well. Following the picture, put sweater on lightbulb and secure at neck and hem with dots of glue. Glue buttons onto front of sweater. Try the sticks in the sweater arms to see how they fit. Trim sticks as needed and glue into sleeves. Trace red patterns for hat. Cut out crown, brim and a 1" x 4" piece out of black felt. Pull the hat brim down over metal part of bulb to cover the bottom. Glue strip around the sides, trimming as needed to make a neat seam and top. Thread one piece of embroidery through through the center of crown and back out again, leaving 3/8" between entry and exit points. Tie ends together for a hanging loop. Glue crown securely onto top of bulb. Tug gently on brim to give it some shape. Flue bird or other trim in place, raising brim so that the face remains visible. Paint both sides of heart red. Let dry thoroughly. Glue snowflake on heart. Glue heart onto center of second piece of embroidery thread. (I used blue thread here.) Tie the ends of the thread around arms, allowing heart to hang near the base of the snowman.
Enjoy!
