For the descendants of Fred and Anna Laura (Millirons) Taylor, see a Summary of their Ancestry by Origin. You will see that we believe that almost half of their ancestry to be Scotch-Irish, with the remaining half being about equal parts of English, Scottish, and German-Palatine.
For the descendants of Arthur and Inez Evangeline (Hallock) Baldwin, see a Summary of their Ancestry by Origin, as well as a List of Immigrants and When They Came.
Following here are what we think are the nationalities of some of our ancestors covered at this web site. Some documented, some guessing. For countries we are guessing at here, would appreciate EMail from anyone who knows better what source some of these names are.
By the way, guessing one's heritage by name may not necessarily be accurate. Various form of the same name may have existed in various countries and then "anglicized" here. For example, our German ancestor Feather's original German name was Vatter.
Beaty: Irish, through our immigrant ancestor John Beatty (Abt1667-1745/46). Haven't determined if we're Irish or Scotch-Irish at this point. There were Beattie septs to at least four clans in Scotland, but I believe Beattie was also a surname used in Ireland.
Connoly: (Also Connolly) Irish per name derivation
Earhart: German, based on origin of name. Also, from indication that the family lived in Pennsylvania in late 1700's, Pennsylvania having many German immigrants (Pennsylvania Dutch).
Feather: German through our immigrant ancestor Joseph Vatter and his son Jacob Vatter/Feather (Although the name is English, it is an Americanization of Vatter to Fether to Feather.)
Fetter/Fether: German. Jacob Vatter was using Fether in 1791, on his marriage certificate.
Fletcher: English, per Johnston genealogy.
Johnston: Scottish through our immigrant ancestor John Johnston(3). We descendants of Archibald also have English in us, as his wife, Mary Nellist was of English parents.
McCampbell: Scotch-Irish, through their ancestor William Campbell, who was born in Scotland, died in Ireland. He was the Father of John McCampbell, who apparently changed his name in America, as this name is not found in Scotland or Ireland.
Millirons: German, again per origin of name.
Nellist: English per Johnston genealogy.
Taylor: Either English or Scottish, both have family crests, although this surname was used in Ireland since the 14th Century, also.
Tolland: English per origin of name.
Hopefully we'll be finding out more as time goes by.
