Page #11: Instructions for Worksheet #2

  1. Open the file "pagec_12.html" in your text editor. This is the file for Worksheet #2 that you will style with CSS. (You will NOT re-save "pagec_12.html" when you save your own work. See #7 below.)
  2. Make the level one heading and list items the same color.
  3. Use the Arial font for both the level three heading and text enclosed within <p>s. Make these items the same color (but different from the color you use in Item #2.)
  4. Put a border around both the level two heading and the image; you choose the color, type and thickness.
  5. Color the horizontal rule. Choose a color that you haven't used for anything else.
  6. Use the Checklist to help track down those pesky "slims."
  7. Use "Save as" to save your work as "wksht02.html" or "wksht02.htm" — NOT as "pagec_12.html".
  8. Display your work. Make some changes. Experiment. Save your work and play some more.

I have completed all the worksheets. I know, I'm the teacher and I don't get any special commendation. But you may find it useful to look at what I've done. There is usually more than one way to do just about anything via CSS, and I don't hold these up to you as examples of what should be done — only what could be done. I have been tempted to re-visit these worksheets and polish them up, but I have resisted.

But I want to help you resist the temptation to "sneak a peak" should you have a little difficulty as you do your work. So you won't find these files on the class floppy. You will find them on my Web site: http://members.aol.com/jbjtutor/css/wks_comp/. That URL will give you a raw directory (folder) listing. You'll see not just the "html" files but the graphics files as well. To retrieve any particular worksheet, just add the filename to the end of the URL, like this: http://members.aol.com/jbjtutor/css/wks_comp/pagec_88.html. That's my rendition of the last worksheet. (Ah, the last one. Makes me kind of nostalgic.)
